Why We Are Adopting

So, before everyone can put their two cents in, we know what you're thinking.  We had the same issue when we found out we were going to have our third child so close to our first two; the judgmental stares were enough.  Yes, we already have five children now, of our own.  Yes we know we have plenty of kids.  No we aren't nuts or crazy or insane or chaos seekers. No we don't need any more kids.  But it isn't about us; it isn't about anything other than obedience.

We are earnestly seeking the face of the Lord regarding this decision.  It wasn't easy and we didn't make it lightly. We understand what it entails, as much as you can plan the unexpected.  We know this is life altering.  But it isn't about us.  It isn't about what makes us comfortable; it is straight up obedience. There is love in our hearts, and someone out there, a defenseless helpless child, needs love and a family.

We didn't pick adoption, adoption picked us.  Adoption picked you, too.  The Lord adopted us all into His family.  Where would any of us be if it weren't for the Lord grafting us each into His family?  We'd all be orphans, but thankfully there is plenty of room in the family of God.  Jesus asked us to feed His sheep, to take care of the least of these, to have faith with deeds, and put love into action.  We tried to put our hands over our ears like so many others have done.  But we couldn't ignore it. We are answering the call.  There is room in our hearts and we are taking a step of faith.

I won't lie to you; it's scary.  If I said we weren't nervous we'd be frauds.  We are human and it is a huge undertaking, just like having any child.  But Jesus said whatever we do for the least of these, we do for Him. I refuse to make it to Heaven and have the Lord question us on why we ignored the call.  And so, we move forward. WE ARE adopting.

What is a Penny Sparrow

A penny sparrow is, according to the Bible, something considered relatively worthless.  In fact, if you bought one sparrow, they'd throw the second one in for free, buy one get one.  A sparrow wasn't worth much, if anything. The poorest of the poor, in Biblical times, would sacrifice a bird, sometimes referred to as a sparrow, if he couldn't offer up anything else.  Jesus said the Heavenly Father looked out for even the little sparrows, caring for them, those things others considered almost worthless.

This blog, our blog, is about our sparrows, two children tossed away by society, sitting in an orphanage, imperfect and deemed almost worthless, yet loved by the Heaven Father. He has asked us to look after them, to care for them.  This blog is about our journey, to bring our penny sparrows home.
